What Can I Recycle?
This recycling effort depends on YOU – please only recycle the materials listed, and place them in the correct receptacle. If we can maintain a high quality of recyclable materials, we will be more likely to offer recycling of additional materials in the future.

The Four Corners Recycling Initiative offers recycling of mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, and mixed metal. Information and instructions on recyclable materials and their preparation follows:
1. Mixed Paper: includes newspaper and newspaper supplements, white paper, all colored paper (including neon), junk mail (including envelopes with windows), phone books, magazines, and catalogs.
- We appreciate removal of staples and paper clips, but it is not required.
- WE DO NOT ACCEPT LIGHT CARDBOARD SUCH AS EGG CARTONS, CEREAL BOXES, OR SIX-PACK HOLDERS.
- IF YOU CONTAMINATE THE RECYCLING BINS WITH NONRECYCLABLE PRODUCTS, YOU WILL JEOPARDIZE THE PROGRAM’S VIABILITY.
2. Corrugated cardboard is cardboard with a wavy center section between the outside and inside layers.
- Please break down boxes so they are flat.
- WE DO NOT ACCEPT WAXY CARDBOARD OR LIGHT CARDBOARD SUCH AS CEREAL BOXES OR
SIX-PACK HOLDERS.
3. Mixed Metal includes steel (tin) cans and aluminum cans.
- Please rinse out cans. You do not need to remove labels.
- Please pinch the open end of all "tin" cans so that aluminum cans cannot slip inside of them.
Please do not drop off any electronics or appliances at the recycle drop off locations!! These items may be properly discarded at the Montezuma County Landfill.
At the moment, we do not offer recycling of plastic or glass. If the initial recycling program is a success, we hope to expand the opportunities to recycle more materials in Montezuma County.
