Our Mission

To promote sustainable living through waste diversion and recycling, education and outreach, and economic opportunities without increasing the tax burden on those we serve

You can now find us on facebook

There exists a community of recyclers across Montezuma and Dolores Counties that work to keep material out of our landfills, efficiently use our natural resources to the greatest extent possible, and promote natural resource sustainability and responsibility.

Our Sponsors contribute financially to the cause.  Support these local businesses that support our mission.  Visit the sponsors page for more information.

Our Partners act.  They work with us to develop sustainability goals, measure results, and take action.  View them as pragmatic learning grounds of what (and what not) to do.

Our Patrons and Friends are the foundation of the network. It takes a community to keep our environment clean, it cannot be done solely by an individual, an organization, or a series of laws and regulations alone.

We know because we meet and greet a local events.  The most common story that we hear from the community is from people who have relocated to the area and cannot believe that recycling services are not as developed in Montezuma and Dolores Counties as they were where they came from.  Where did they come from?  The list is growing, but includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

If we would like to see our recycling and diversion infrastructure grow, we have to ask ourselves a very important question, "What am I willing to pay for that service?"  When we come to consensus on that question as a community we can make some real progress.

FCRI sincerely wants to say Thank You to the members of the community that express their support through monetary donations to FCRI.  We want to work harder to make sure you know exactly how your donation supports our mission.

Others support our efforts through collaboration and cooperation or adopting sustainability principles in their own operations.  There is a strong, informal network of dedicated plastic recyclers out there.  GOOD JOB!  Keep up the good work and the vision of this website was that of a place where you all could network to make your trips more efficient.
